So, WHAT IS CROSSFIT?

New to CrossFit? Heard some buzz? Here's the scoop.

In a nutshell, CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movements, performed at high intensity.

Why constantly varied?

Routine is the enemy for mind and body. Not only do routine workouts become boring, but your body also quickly adapts to your routine and stops progressing.

What are functional movements?

Functional movements are compound, efficient movements which maximize work capacity while utilizing various muscle groups simultaneously to complete a task. You perform functional movements daily throughout your life.

Why high intensity?

If you train to become proficient in functional movements at high intensity, you will make tremendous gains in all aspects of fitness and performing such movements at low intensity throughout your day will become second nature.

Is CrossFit for everyone?

Absolutely! CrossFit is scaleable to all fitness levels, ages, genders, sizes, experience, disabilities, etc.

Our coaches have a sincere and deep passion for changing and improving the lives of all members of our community. All we ask is that you make a commitment to show up and put forth a genuine effort and leave the rest to us.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

1. Join the workout of the day (WOD) in the class schedule.

Members can book online via their computer or smartphone to enroll in a class.

  •  Each day’s workout is unique!

  •  Classes are capped to small groups to allow for personalized attention.

  • Class length is one hour.


2. Every workout is led by a dedicated coach/trainer.

  • The coach leads the class and makes sure you are always moving correctly and using the most correct form possible.
  • Our coaches are experienced, passionate, and approachable.
  • No one is here to judge, we are all here to help.

3. Every class is structured in the following manner:

  1. The warm-up - Raise your heart rate and core temperature
  2. Mobility/Stretching pre-workout
  3. Technique - Instructions on key movements
  4. Lifting or skill development 
  5. The workout of the day (WOD)

All new members must take or have taken the CrossFit Foundations course, which teaches how to safely take part in CrossFit.

CHARITY OF THE MONTH

Our Charity of the Month is Barbells For Boobs. 

Barbells for Boobs® is a 501(c)3 nonprofit breast cancer organization dedicated to the early detection of breast cancer, with an emphasis on women under the age of 40 and men. We believe that everyone has a RIGHT to know if they are living with breast cancer.

Each year CrossFit affiliates around the country raise money for this important cause, an effort that typically culminates with the workout “Grace.”  Our event will be November 11. To raise money for this cause you must go to www.barbellsforboobs.org, set up a fundraising page, and join our team “CrossFit 103 & The Squat Academy.”  You can then share it with your friends and family on social media.  That’s it!

We are hoping to raise $5,000 as a community. The fact is 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. 7% of those women will be under the age of 40. Let’s help raise money to ensure all those who need to be screened can get screened.
